Sterne School is an equal opportunity employer.JOB DESCRIPTION:Start Date: August 12, 2025Full-time position. The High School History Teacher reports to the Head of High School.The High School History Teacher is responsible for guiding students to achieve the Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) and the 2019-2024 Strategic Plan. This full-time teaching position includes four sections of some combination of World History, US History, Ethnic Studies, and Civics/Economics.Sterne's student population has diverse learning needs, including Attention Deficit profiles, Specific Learning Disabilities, and Dyslexia. The person in this role should be able to support these needs by providing instruction through various modalities in both teaching and assessments.In alignment with our strengths-based model, faculty are empowered to teach within their areas of expertise. However, due to scheduling, teachers may occasionally be asked to teach outside their preferred content area, with appropriate support and professional development provided.Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned, structured, and research-based instruction tailored to meet individual student needs and profiles.
  • Support and embody the Sterne School Mission Statement, Diversity Statement, goals, and Core Values.
  • Provide substitute teaching as needed.
  • Consistently record assignments, grades, and student progress on assignment sheets and the Learning Management System.
  • Prepare quarterly report cards aligned with course descriptions, lesson plans, and maintain regular communication with parents.
  • Supervise students at all times, maintaining clear classroom boundaries in a supportive and firm manner.
  • Maintain an organized classroom that promotes executive functioning skills, including care for books, computers, iPads, materials, and the school environment.
  • Participate in parent, teacher, and student conferences.Preferred Experience:
  • At least two years of teaching experience.
  • Experience working with neurodiverse learners.
