We are looking for an experienced applied physicist with HW Engineering background to join the radiation physics team within Product Engineering with focus on Beam Generation and Monitoring (BGM). The candidate should have demonstrated knowledge in microwave and accelerator physics, vacuum technology, high-power klystron amplifiers, pulsed high-power supplies, pulsed beam generation components used in radiation therapy applications and general understanding of medical linear accelerator operation principles. The successful candidate needs to be able to independently design and build test plans, debug and execute tests to monitor the long-term performance of the RF system components, and perform experimental data collection and analysis. The candidate should have excellent team-work and oral/written communication skills and ability to manage project timelines and supplier collaborations in a fast-paced environment. What you will do:
Laboratory work to design test beds to test, monitor and characterize the performance of high-power RF system components, and lead electro-magnetic interference (EMI) noise investigation and reduction efforts
Hands-on radiation physics experimental work on prototype systems (radiation training will be provided), EMI measurements, RF system data collection and troubleshooting, accelerated life testing data monitoring and trending
Solve a variety of design problems working cross-functionally and with external vendors, including root cause analyses to understand failure mechanisms
Manage installation and calibration of new/prototype RF components
Investigate and document issues related to BGM subsystem
Perform design reviews of technical problems within a cross-functional team
Create documentation for BGM subsystem performance and stability, failure events and proposed solutions, reliability testing
Perform and document informal and formal verification and validation tests for the BGM subsystem
Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing and Field Service engineers, Product Management and Reliability engineering
Support IEC testing and other medical linear accelerator safety regulatory tasks; Adheres to all regulatory requirements and company policies, procedures, and training manuals
The role may include customer support of applications/products using remote computer diagnostic and/or client-site visits
What you will have:
Degree in Physics, Applied Physics or Electrical Engineering (Bachelors with5 years of related experience/Masters with 3 years of related experience)
Proficient with electronic test equipment and RF principles
Experience with high-power pulsed beam components, electronics, and vacuum technology
Experience with National Instruments componentsand LabView coding for data acquisition; python (or equivalent) codingexperience
Hands-on laboratory skills, component and subsystem troubleshooting experience
Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and have the ability to work independently (or with minimal supervision)
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills, great oral/written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with experts in multiple disciplines
Passion for creating robust and reliable products in a fast-paced work environment
