Quantum Computing (QC) is poised to become the next major business disruption technology.

The QC ecosystem has seen exponential growth in funding, and our hardware partners haveachieved impressive records in qubit development. Now is the right time to jump into thisdisruptive technology and become the world's first(s) to develop useful and performantquantum computing software.
QC Ware will add an experienced Backend Engineer to our team, based in Palo Alto, CA orhybrid. No advance knowledge of quantum computing or quantum theory is necessary to applyfor this position!
RoleQC Ware is hiring a backend engineer to build new products aimed at specific industryverticals and support development of QC Ware Forge (our QC-focused SaaS). The softwareengineering team's primary focus is to leverage the work of our quantum algorithms teams (inChemistry, Optimization, Finance, and Machine Learning) into enterprise-ready products.Backend engineers will design and implement the systems that underpin the APIs and servicesthat deliver these products to our customers. We frequently use concepts like relationaldatabases, cloud services, distributed queues, and microservices in our work.In an ideal candidate, the right mindset is the most important characteristic. We valueindependent action, product-focused engineering, and the ability to think analytically aboutsystems and implement them effectively. Great candidates should know how to reason aboutdistributed systems, test their products thoroughly, and clearly communicate about the thingsthey build to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities--- Own features throughout their life cycle, from design, to implementation, to production.--- Improve our technical architecture, code quality, and engineering culture to continuallystep up the quality and speed of our delivery.--- Collaborate on the design and development of entirely new products and services fromthe ground up, working closely with our devOps, product, and quantum algorithmteams.--- Add capabilities to the various backend systems and services that support ourproducts, with automated instrumentation and monitoring to require minimal operationalmaintenance.--- Design and maintain our databases and caching layers.--- Write thorough unit and e2e testing of features, functionality, and services.--- Write high-quality, performant code in Python, or another modern language, that helpsour customers accomplish their goals, and support other crucial teams throughout thecompany doing the same.--- Proactively identify opportunities for improving the reliability and scalability of oursystems.--- Participate in recruiting activities such as interviewing and alumni outreach.
QualificationsMust haves:--- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practicalexperience.--- 4+ years experience (2+ for candidates with PhD/Masters) shipping scalable andwell-maintained application back-end code.--- Professional coding experience with Python3 or similar languages.--- Experience testing software systems and applications at scale.--- Experience with Unix/Linux environments.
Preferred:--- Proven track record of developing high availability products and systems for use byenterprise clients.2--- Knowledge of concepts and tradeoffs associated with distributed systems.--- Experience with relational databases, caching systems, and data stores with theconceptual knowledge to determine how and when to use them.--- Demonstrated ability to contribute to a software engineering environment geared towardproviding a low-friction experience for the engineering team.
