Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with advanced knowledge in VMware and NSX (VCP-NV certification required) and a strong background in network design, implementation, and administration. The role involves maintaining the infrastructure's stability, optimizing performance, and ensuring security in a hybrid in-office environment. You must be local to Sacramento, CA; able to work onsite 2 days a week via hybrid schedule (transitioning to 4 days onsite starting July).

Key Responsibilities:

Network Architecture & Design:Design, implement, and maintain scalable network infrastructure to meet organizational needs.Develop custom solutions by leveraging VMware and NSX platforms.Network Administration:Configure and manage LAN/WAN connectivity, VLANs, firewalls, routers, and switches.Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure seamless operation.Security Management:Proactively secure network systems and enforce compliance with company policy.Apply security patches and updates to hardware/software systems as needed.Project Leadership:Lead network-related projects, ensuring deliverables are met on schedule and within budget.Collaborate with cross-functional teams for smooth project integration.Documentation & Reporting:Create and maintain network diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Provide regular reports on network performance and incidents.Mentoring & Education:Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on networking best practices.Stay current with industry trends and certifications; recommend upgrades or technologies as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certifications: VMware Certified Professional - Network Virtualization (VCP-NV) required.Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, NSX-T or NSX-V, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting.Experience with Layer 2 & Layer 3 network protocols.Strong knowledge of firewall technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower).Familiarity with virtualized environments, storage, and cloud networking solutions.Advanced understanding of DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).Preferred Skills:

Additional certifications in Cisco (CCNA/CCNP) or Palo Alto Networks desirable.Experience with SD-WAN solutions and cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.Strong scripting knowledge (e.g., Python) for network automation.Job Requirements:

Minimum 6-8 years of professional network engineering experience.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.How to Apply:
