Technician Location : VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, 3801 Miranda
Drive, Palo Alto, CA 94304 Contract Duration : 6 months contract
(Optional Extension) Work Hours : Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM
(excluding federal holidays) Job Summary We are seeking experienced
HVAC Technicians to join our team supporting the VA Palo Alto
Healthcare System. This position requires advanced expertise in the
maintenance and repair of industrial HVAC systems in a
mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will be capable
of working independently and resolving HVAC system issues to
minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Inspect, repair, and
maintain a wide variety of HVAC and refrigeration equipment
including chillers, rooftop units, freezers, and control systems.
Perform routine and preventive maintenance on systems to ensure
optimal functionality. Diagnose and repair problems related to air
flow, thermostats, pressure gauges, ductwork, motors, and
electrical components. Fabricate and install ductwork, read complex
blueprints, and apply proper load balancing techniques. Utilize
thermometers, digital pressure gauges, and electronic diagnostic
tools to optimize system performance. Follow detailed maintenance
procedures and adhere to strict safety codes. Maintain service logs
and complete work order documentation. Qualifications Minimum 4
years of journeyman-level experience working with industrial HVAC
systems. Strong understanding of HVAC principles including
refrigeration cycle, heat transfer, and air balance. Ability to
read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals. Skilled in
leak detection, fabrication, pipe fitting, and soldering. Must
possess a valid state driver's license . Physically able to lift
100 lbs and work in elevated or confined spaces. Preferred HVAC
certification from an accredited institution. Experience in a
hospital or healthcare facility. EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling
