(RAD) Solutions is recruiting for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer
(Hardware Simulation) located in Santa Clara, CA. Robotics and
Digital Solutions, is part of Johnson & Johnson Med Tech. At
Johnson & Johnson Robotics and Digital Solutions, we’re changing

skills and improves patient outcomes. The Senior Mechanical
Engineer will work with other members of the Robotics and Digital
Solutions team to analyze complex mechanisms, simulate structural
but lightweight assemblies, motor driven actuators, and motion
transmissions. This role is responsible for simulation analysis
through conceptual and detailed FE analysis, related documentation,
and design specifications. Your work will be focused on deriving
and simulating innovative designs based on user needs and product
requirements! Key team interfaces include electrical engineering,
robot controls, system integration, testing, external vendors, and
internal manufacturing groups. You will contribute to the
development of a complex robotic medical platform. For a

expectations. Core Job Responsibilities: Expertise in Finite
Element Analysis and knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics
(CFD). Proficiency in applying advanced mathematical concepts to
analyze and optimize detailed mechanisms, including thermal
management aspects. Build FEA models from scratch, working
alongside design engineers across multiple subject areas. Conduct
thermal analysis applying heat transfer concepts to simulation
models to assess thermal performance during the design and
development phase. Provide hands-on troubleshooting, process, and
engineering assistance in support of a rapid development cycle.
Proven track record of matching structural and thermal simulation
results to real world testing. Strong understanding of vibration
analysis, including modal analysis, modal testing, and dynamically
induced vibration analysis. Consistent track record of using
simulation to propose solutions to electro-mechanical systems. Lead
teams of designers and engineers to accomplish larger project
goals. Design safe, robust, and reliable solutions utilizing
engineering methods with good documentation processes and releasing
design documentation through an ECO process. Excellent
documentation practices with the ability to convey data in a
meaningful way. Ability and willingness to work through all phases
of product development from conceptualization to production. Must
be capable of working independently and in cross departmental
engineering teams. Be a positive, collaborative team member with a
good honest work ethic. Qualifications: A minimum of an MS/ME
degree or similar is required A minimum of 2 years proven
experience building complex simulation models with ANSYS is
required. Background in robotics or medical capital equipment
desired. Proficiency with various simulation types: static,
dynamic, linear and non-linear analysis on assemblies ranging from
3 to 60 parts is desirable. Demonstrated excellence in the
simulation of motors, gears, lead-screws, splines, cams, linear
guides, belts, bearing & pulleys is preferred. Understanding of how
to craft static, quasi-static and explicit dynamic models is
desired. Mechanical analysis experience including statics,
dynamics, kinematics, thermal management and stress analysis is a
strong asset. Proven experience understanding manufacturing
processes such as machining, sheet metal, casting, injection
molding, and 3D printing is beneficial. Capable of making drawings
following standard methodologies from AMSE Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning
and Tolerancing is desireable. Experience working with vendors to
select, source, quote, and procure off the shelf and custom
designed components is beneficial. Basic knowledge of working in an
ISO and FDA regulated environment is an asset Consistent track
record working well in a team environment, learning from others, as
well as mentoring and coaching more junior team members is
valuable. The anticipated base pay for this role is $121,000 to
