Job Summary This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.-- The Executive Director - Diagnostic Imaging Services is responsible for providing overall leadership, management and strategic planning to the various clinical services, programs and staff that comprise of Diagnostic Imaging Services to ensure operational cost-effectiveness and efficiency, compliance with external regulatory, accrediting, and statutory requirements, and that institutional goals, policies and objectives are met in providing quality services. These services include Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Ultrasound, MRI services, CT services, MR/PET program, and Isotope therapy program. Responsible for the overall operations at a variety of locations and through organizational partners. Provides strategic direction for the expansion of Diagnostic Imaging Services and is fully accountable for the results of the department, which has a long range impact on the department and organization. This is a highly-advanced role overseeing strategic direction and developing business plans and strategic direction for long term expansion projects; developing and administering polices; reviewing guidelines, procedures, rules and regulations; establishing priorities, standards; coordinating and evaluating program activities; review and approve budget plans and monitor financial performance; human resources management; quality and performance improvement and compliance. This role is fully accountable for departmental short to longer term results of one to four years, which includes revenue and return on investments. Essential Functions The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned. Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct. --- Plans, organizes, manages, directs, and delegates authority/responsibility to meet the day-to-day operational activities consisting of multiple programs and/or units by determining policy, program priorities and the utilization of resources to fulfill established institutional objectives and the delivery of optimal health care services for the following imaging and radiological services: Nuclear Medicine, Interventional Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Ultrasound, MRI services, CT services, MR/PET program, and Isotope therapy program. --- Creates clear organizational vision and department goals. Provides leadership in integrating programs and services within hospital's primary functions by supporting organizational philosophy, goals, policies, mission, priorities and vision, and by delivering optimal health care services. --- Develops and executes strategic business plans for Diagnostic Imaging Services and is fully accountable for the results for both the short and long term of one-four years. --- Develops and implements long-term plans in establishing standards and procedures around which managers and individual contributors operate. --- Collaborates with dyad partners to ensure alignment on operational strategic initiatives; creates a strategic plan that supports the hospital's mission and vision and represents all service line support.-- --- Resolves highly complex or unusual business problems applying advance analytical thought and judgement which may have long-term impact on the organization and Diagnostic Imaging Services. --- Strategically plans outward expansions for LPCHS' Diagnostic Imaging Services with full accountability for revenue generation and return on investments.-- --- Provides clear direction and interpretation to department managers in managing their respective areas of responsibility. --- Monitors, prepares, and manages annual operating and capital equipment budgets; monitors monthly budget reports and operational variances; implements corrective action to resolve variances or implement cost savings, and efficiency improvements.-- --- Achieve and maintain a viable cost structure while delivering "best practice" quality and clinical care; provides expertise and analysis regarding reimbursement and makes recommendations for business decisions. --- Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulatory and professional standards, i.e JCAHO, Title XXIII, etc. --- Assure the Quality Improvement Program is developed, implemented and appropriately responsive to the quality needs and opportunities of the patient care arena. --- Promotes and models Collaborative Practice and integrated approach to patient care with other healthcare disciplines.-- --- Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of departmental standards, procedures and protocols. --- Selects and hires qualified management and staff members; participates in retention and recognition activities; monitors, documents, and evaluates performance, and provides opportunities for improvement through coaching; ensures adequate staffing at on-site and off-site locations. --- Assumes supervisory duties, including, but not limited to, hiring, coaching, professional development, performance appraisal, discipline/termination, and adherence to hospital policies in collaboration with the Imaging Services Managers. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education: Bachelor's degree in work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.-- Experience: Broad and extensive and progressively responsible directly related work experience in administrative and/or managerial positions License/Certification: Registry of Radiologic Technologists, (A.R.R.T.) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification. --- Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels as well as prepare and deliver clear, comprehensive written and oral communications --- Ability to strategically plan for the future of the organization --- Ability to interface effectively with diverse groups of staff, physicians and peers --- Ability to solve problems and identify solutions --- Ability to build and maintain a cooperative and supportive team environment --- Ability to effectively support significant organizational change --- Ability to negotiate with and influences others internally and externally; including executives within the organization and vendors/or regulators --- Ability to utilize computer systems and applicable software used in functional area and demonstrated computer skills-- --- Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, develop and evaluate work results --- Knowledge of current clinical practices in diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology --- Knowledge of internal and industry standards, as well as of the changing business environment --- Knowledge of managed care systems --- Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal, legal, and regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility --- Knowledge of new and changing clinical, reimbursement, and regulatory requirements/standards Physical Requirements The Physical Requirements and Working Conditions in which the job is typically performed are available from the Occupational Health Department.
