The Security Solution Engineering Manager is a very visible role that will lead a team of high performing Pre-Sales Engineers to drive the adoption of VMware Security products and solutions in large scale enterprise accounts. We expect the Solution Engineering leader to grow the business across their region developing internal business partnerships within internal teams. The Security Sales and SE team is a Product Specialist team so you will coordinate and work closely with VMware's Core Field and Partner organizations to achieve success and manage interactions with our existing customers.Using prior experience and leadership skills, you will grow the Security business by building business partnerships internally and externally with a focus on customer success and the partner ecosystem. You will also have direct influence to product improvements and the new products/solutions that VMware brings to market.The Solution Engineering Manager is also expected to manage their business-grow and mentor their segment team, maintain financial controls including travel and expenses, headcount and regularly pursue strategic business development opportunities.

  • Lead a Pre-Sales Engineering organization across their region
  • Develop and maintain internal partnerships with the Field Sales, Alliances, Partner, and Professional Services Organizations to grow the Security business
  • Lead team execution through solution selling, and influence selling complex, large-scale technology solutions to senior client executives
  • Engage with strategic client leadership (CIO, CTO, Solution Architects, VPs and Directors of IT); building relationships, evangelizing VMware solutions, and providing domain expertise to assist in closing business
  • Ensure teams are trained and skilled to ask probing questions that are meaningful to the customer to collect information that enables the sales team to be more effective and responsive to customer's needs
  • Contribute to strategic technology and operations improvements by providing feedback to sales and product management
  • Partner with sales to grow product and services revenue
  • Develop in-depth technical and operational knowledge of VMware and SecurityRequired Skills:
    • 8+ years of experience managing or leading a successful presales and services organization preferably in the Enterprise Software space
    • 10+ years of relevant technology or industry experience in customer-facing positions preferably within the Enterprise Software or technology domain
    • Successful track record of leading high-performance teams across multiple regions
    • Strong organizational and project management skills with an ability to manage competing client demands and multiple engagements
    • Experience with financial modeling and benchmarking principles
    • Experience building and managing teams in a dynamic, startup (or startup-like) environment is a huge plus
    • Proven ability to communicate professionally with executives, teams, customers and partners, including CxO-level leaders
    • Proven ability to align customer interests and navigate customer organizations to ensure successful project delivery and acceptance
    • Deep understanding of the mobile and desktop landscape
    • Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, features, and business & IT value propositions for Service Providers, Enterprise, State & Local, Education, and global customers
    • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and motivational skills
    • Ability to travel up to 50% of timePreferred Skills:
