You will have an opportunity to work directly with Accessibility experts to contribute and sustain the excellence of VMware's digital accessibility initiative through expanding its accessibility training program and outreach efforts.The Design and User Experience organization is seeking a Program/Project Manager Intern who loves working on complex problems and getting things done. You will lead and support the release of our next version of our Accessibility Advocacy program promoting accessible user experiences.Activities include managing the overall VMware Advocates Program for raising awareness of the importance of digital accessibility. collaborating with Design and UX professionals using an Agile development model, working closely with a team to develop an annual training and outreach business plan, and implementing the plan, and tracking progress, with a focus on continual improvement. You will get to work with an experienced team of brilliant (and fun) people in a dynamic environment. You will be participating in growing a program that is delivering experiences thinking first about the people who use them and maintaining best in class accessibility methodologies and metrics that scale across VMware.Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 weeks you will work toward completing?

  • In your first 2 weeks, you will quickly come up to speed on our accessibility portfolio (e.g., products, customer-facing assets (videos, whitepapers, PDFs, PPTs, product documentation)
  • You'll get to know the team and stakeholders - critical to get your job done well.
  • By week 3 - you are taking the lead in scoping and building your project plan- what needs to be done to deliver the improved Accessibility Advocacy Program.The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
    • In Week 4 and beyond - you will be executing on the plan.
      • Conceptualize and create materials in support of the initiative to increase the accessibility of information technology and the content it delivers

      • Serve as a liaison to website owners to assist them in understanding and acting on reports from the accessibility testing platform
        -
      • Maintain the digital accessibility website. Work with subject matter experts to develop and maintain content, such as events, knowledge, news, and links
        -
      • Promote awareness and events internally and via social media networks
        -
      • Develop training and support materials for the accessibility team
        -
      • Coordinate and promote advocates town halls; identify topics in need of coverage, and work with subject matter experts to develop and deliver new trainings
        -
      • Monitor training attendance and success; use metrics to help identify underrepresented BUs, and determine how best to reach them

      • Maintain currency of training and outreach knowledge and best practices

What is the structure and culture of the team like?The hiring manager for this role is Director of Design Operations / Chief of Staff. Steven has been with VMware for 4 months and held previous senior executive leadership roles in software development and financial services. This team sits within a larger Design and User Experience organization. -Where is this role located? Flexible: The location of this role is flexible within the United States.
