In 2021, Varian created the Technology and Innovation Office (TIO) to ensure that Varian is primed to fuel growth and drive innovation. The TIO will serve as an incubation hub for new ideas and next generation technology-enabled solutions across our company. In addition to identifying new market opportunities for Varian, the TIO will become a center of excellence for innovation services, such as user experience design, advanced AI, applied research, oncology data strategy, rapid prototyping and third-party ecosystem development. The TIO will be a close partner in accelerating growth to Varian's key business units including Radiation Oncology Solutions, Multi-Disciplinary Oncology, Proton Solutions and Interventional Solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of important problems to be solved by the team, keeping the team focused on high-priority long-term business needs
  • Establish a coherent process for innovation including, facilitating Ideation and Design for Varian's Business Lines, developing quick wireframes and prototypes to embody the idea, and easily transition new technologies, business models, and applications into the Business Lines
  • Lead cross functional business processes engineering to streamline technology transfer.
  • Develop a framework to clarify, quantify, execute and track deliverables of the innovation process.
  • Establish a process to incubate Strategic Initiatives on behalf of the company -
  • Coordinate and communicate with senior executives representing various stakeholder across the company. Articulate our innovation strategy, as well as the initiatives we manage.
  • Effectively communicate, influence, and manage stakeholder expectations to achieve results.
  • Drive TIO budget planning, in coordination with FP&A
  • Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Act as a Chief-of-Staff to the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer, coordinating recurring strategic meetings, staff sessions, etc. as well as aiding in large group communication. Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 8+ years of related experience. MBA and/or 5+ years management experience is desired
    • Good knowledge of operations management
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and successfully influence senior level management, executives and stakeholders at all levels
    • Highly organized with ability to manage concurrent deadlines and priorities
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Experience in healthcare/oncology a plus
