society.Position OverviewThe Associate Director of Learning &
Development is responsible for designing, coordinating, and
facilitating professional development experiences that strengthen
employee skills and performance, and leading staff feedback and
dialogue processes to support organizational development. This role
plays a critical part in advancing The Arc San Francisco's
disability justice and equity goals by implementing inclusive
training strategies and facilitating meaningful staff feedback and
dialogue spaces.Key ResponsibilitiesTraining & Professional
Development
- Support the Senior Director of People in developing and
executing a strategic, organization-wide learning and development
plan aligned with business goals and workforce needs.
- Identify current and future skills gaps and propose scalable,
targeted solutions that strengthen talent pipelines and support
career growth.
- Partner cross-functionally with People Operations and
department leaders to design, communicate, and evaluate development
initiatives, ensuring alignment with team goals and measurable
outcomes.
- Design, deliver, and manage virtual and in-person training
sessions, workshops, and e-learning modules that engage staff at
all levels, while tracking participation and impact.
- Collaborate with managers to build role-specific learning
pathways and support long-term career development across the
organization.Evaluation and Continuous Improvement
- Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive
evaluation systems to assess the impact, relevance, and quality of
all learning and development initiatives.
- Analyze feedback, performance data, and engagement metrics to
identify training gaps, improve instructional design, and ensure
alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with department leaders to apply evidence-based
methods and continuous review cycles that enhance program
effectiveness and sustainability.Organizational Development
- Design and manage inclusive feedback systems that gather staff
input on organizational culture.
- Facilitate structured opportunities-such as surveys and focus
groups-for staff to contribute insights that shape strategic
learning priorities and enhance organizational effectiveness.
- Translate feedback into actionable strategies that inform
leadership development, workforce planning, and continuous
improvement across departments.
- Partner with senior leadership to implement development
initiatives that reflect staff needs, foster engagement, and
promote equity and transparency.Qualifications
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in learning and development, talent
management, or related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership
or strategic role.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and
collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage
multiple complex initiatives from design through implementation and
evaluation.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with a demonstrated ability
to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate
documentation.
- Sharp attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables
and consistency across learning programs.
- Demonstrated success in designing, delivering, and evaluating
effective adult learning programs, including in-person and virtual
formats.
- Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), e-learning
tools, and training technologies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the
ability to present information clearly and persuasively.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in
designing learning experiences that reflect the diverse communities

plus.Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily located at 1500
Howard Street, San Francisco. Some work time will be spent at The
Arc San Francisco satellite sites in Burlingame, CA and Marin, CA,
and in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area with organizational
partners.Physical DemandsRepetitive keyboard use; phone use,
