If you want to be part of this important mission, we want to hear from you.CTSI Employees Works remotely with one or more clinical sites in collaboration with the Cancer Care Leadership to ensure high quality and safe interpretation, delivery, operation, and monitoring of radiation safety policies, procedures, standards, and equipment for Radiation Oncology Services. Responsible for ensuring delivery of high-quality radiation therapy while providing workers with the proper education and training and oversight to minimize radiation exposure. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family-Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers. Duties/Responsibilities - Calibration of dose meters (including dosimetric inter-comparisons for QA) and radiation equipment (accelerator monitor unit calibration)- Beam data acquisition for treatment planning- Preparation of data for treatment planning systems- Development/improvement of dose measurement systems and protocols- Preparation of software for dosimetry purposes (including spreadsheets and databases) - Ensures compliance with Federal, State and organizational regulations for radiation safety .- Acceptance testing and commissioning of new machines and re-commissioning after major maintenance- Ensures quality control of machine according to regulations and AAPM guidelines: parameters relevant for treatment, dosimetry and safety devices- Provides equipment consultation.- Performs individual treatment planning and dosimetry calculations as needed.- Provides treatment planning review (physics component) and patient dose verification review (in vivo dosimetry.)- Provides consultation for procedures and documentation of patient treatment according to policy and procedures.- Ensure routine verification of department treatment planning system.- In collaboration with information services department, provides software management of department planning system. - Assures quality control of equipment - Monthly and/or Periodic Travel within the US to perform tasks as necessary.- Position may include mandatory participation in various schedules to include on call, day, evening, night, and/or weekend rotations or coverage.- May provide cross-coverage at other sites (not limited to those of a specific client).- Other duties as assigned by director, and for Varian Medical Systems by the physicist manager/director of Physics.- Follows and exemplifies the code of practice and policies in Physics Manual.Fighting cancer calls for big ideas.We envision a world without fear of cancer.
