We work on the cutting-edge of Battery Technology to build a
state-of-the-art, safe, sustainable and most optimal energy storage
solution for our products. We are looking for an outstanding
Battery Lab Specialist to join our sophisticated Battery Technology
Lab. Our ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding attention to
detail, interest in developing inspection skills, and has an
aptitude for electrical and mechanical test methods, which are all
required to identify subtle issues that could impact battery cell
performance. This role will work alongside a diverse team of
engineers and technicians to advance technology that provide a
ground breaking battery pack for our eVTOL aircraft. This
individual must demonstrate the desire to drive continuous internal
process improvement methods through critical thinking skills.
What you can do:
Design, performing engineering CAD model and build different test
tools/fixtures for battery labs
Responsible for procurement, setting up, managing, maintaining, and
calibrating laboratory equipment and battery machine shop
Developing highly efficient test plans. Ownership of different
tests including environmental testing, electrical characterization,
dimensional inspections, and mechanical tests at cell level to pack
level
Ownership of HV safety protocols in battery characterization
lab
Manage multiple complex challenges within a fast-paced
environment
Assist in writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures
What you can contribute:
Trained with high-voltage operation safety
Demonstrated experience in building a battery lab: equipment
purchase, installation
Working experience with high voltage systems, along with
high-voltage safety training
Working experience in machine shop
Knowledge in use of standard electronics lab tools including DC
meters, DC power supplies
Experience working with common battery cycling hardware like Arbin,
Maccor, Biologic, Thermal Chambers, Gamry system, or NHR
Experience with metrology and data acquisition systems
Experience with CAD tools, prefer CATIA
Knowledge of safety hazards of working with and electrical and
mechanical testing of lithium-ion batteries
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Careful and meticulous attention to detail, in particular during
battery assembly, testing and data entry
Ability to work independently and with at team
Ability to interpret shop manuals, schematics, and work
instructions
Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity
Occasional: Bending, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking,
reaching, overhead reaching, and fine motor skills
Maximum/occasional lifting: to 30 pounds
Proficient in Office 365 Suite
You may also be able to contribute:
Proven experience in battery testing, battery lab equipment
building and maintaining for 7+ years with associate degree in
electrical, mechanical, chemical, aviation/aerospace related
fields, or 5+ years with Bachelor degree or higher in electrical
engineer, mechanical engineer or relevant
Exposure to aviation/aerospace
Experience with using scripting language like Python for automated
testing and data extraction
