Job Description:
The Palo Alto VA and Stanford University are seeking to hire an
Orthopaedic Surgeon fellowship trained in lower extremity
arthroplasty to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity to
develop and grow an academic career. The Palo Alto VA is a tertiary
care hospital with a large catchment area and referral base for
complex cases and has the second largest research program in VHA.
The position involves teaching Stanford orthopedic surgery
residents and adult reconstruction fellows. As VA physicians are
uniquely eligible to apply for VA Merit Review funding, there are
many opportunities to develop individual and collaborative research
programs that will enhance patient care. The Department of
Orthopaedic Surgery at Stanford University seeks a board
certified/eligible Orthopaedic surgeon to join the department at
the Assistant or Associate Professor level on the University
Medical Line (UML) or on the Clinician Educator Line (CE). The
major criteria for appointment for faculty in the Medical Center
Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care,
clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical
medicine and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic
need the individual is expected to fulfill. The major criterion for
appointment in the Clinician Educator Line is excellence in the
overall mix of clinical care and clinical teaching that advances
clinical medicine appropriate to the programmatic need the
individual is expected to fulfill. While not required, Clinician
Educators may also engage in scholarly activities and/or perform in
an administrative role. Academic line/rank will be determined by
the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. We
expect the successful candidate to provide surgical and
non-surgical care for Orthopaedic patients and (for MCL) produce
scholarly work in the candidates major areas of interest, as well
as teach and mentor residents, fellows, and medical students. The
successful applicant should be eligible for a California Medical
License. Pay Range: $352,000-$400,000 Annual performance bonus up
to an additional $15K per year Relocation Licensure: 1 full &
unrestricted active U.S. license CME: $1,000/year and 5 days of
paid absences for CME courses Malpractice: VHA physicians are
covered under federal tort laws No employment contracts, noncompete
clauses, or restrictive covenants 26 days paid vacation; 13 days
paid sick time; 11 paid federal holidays; 15 days military Federal
Retirement Plan; fully vested after 5 years! Separate 401K with
