Job Summary


Under the direction of the Dentistry and Oral Surgery Service Chief, receive and manage cases on the Dentistry and Oral surgery Service at the VMTH, focusing on oral and maxillofacial surgical cases but also general dentistry and oral surgery referrals (36 weeks on clinics duties/year, and including weekend/holiday duty will be required). Consult on cases with an oral and maxillofacial surgical focus in other clinical services in the VMTH and from referring veterinary hospitals. Participate in dentistry and oral surgery and surgical oncology focused rounds (20/year). Participate in resident and veterinary student surgical training, including clinical instruction, laboratory instruction, weekly rounds, and board exam preparation. Perform clinical research in companion animal oral and maxillofacial surgery and to present the findings at the American and/or European Veterinary Dental Forum annual meeting. Fulfil 3 weeks rotation/year through the VMTH oncology service , as well as the Anesthesia services or Critical Care at the VMTH and also UCD ENT or Anatomic Pathology (see later). Study for and complete the requirements to become an AVDC Fellow in oral and maxillofacial surgery). RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE WEEK: Applicants will be screened after one week.
