Journeyman Electrician (California C-10 Licensed) Location: VA Palo
Alto Healthcare System, 3801 Miranda Drive, Palo Alto, CA 94304
Contract Duration: 6 months contract (Optional Extension) Work
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (excluding federal
holidays) Job Summary We are hiring licensed Journeyman
Electricians to support critical maintenance and repair operations
at the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System. This role is essential in
ensuring the safe and efficient functioning of electrical systems
in a healthcare setting. Ideal candidates will hold a valid
California C-10 electrician license and have a strong track record
in complex electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and
installations. Key Responsibilities Perform installation, repair,
testing, and calibration of building electrical systems and
equipment. Maintain and troubleshoot high-voltage distribution
systems (up to 12,000 volts), emergency generators, and transfer
switches. Repair and service complex control panels, relays,
switches, transformers, and lighting systems. Interpret and apply
National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations. Read and
interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical
specifications. Use specialized tools and testing equipment such as
multimeters, power factor meters, megohmmeters, circuit analyzers,
etc. Maintain, install, and repair kitchen, laundry, and shop
equipment. Adhere strictly to safety protocols and participate in
continuous improvement of electrical infrastructure. Qualifications
California C-10 Electrician License (required). Minimum 4 years of
experience as a journeyman electrician in commercial or healthcare
settings. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for
electrical and electronic systems. Ability to read complex
electrical schematics and use advanced test equipment. Knowledge of
OSHA, NEC, and VA-specific safety standards. Must possess a valid
state driver's license. Strong communication and team collaboration
skills. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs and work in confined
spaces, attics, and crawl spaces. Preferred Experience working in
hospital or healthcare environments. Familiarity with VA facility
