Brief OverviewThe Supervisor for Histology Services supervises the
hospital staff and the technical operations of the Histology
Laboratory, the Immunodiagnostic Laboratory, and the frozen section
room. Under the direction of the Laboratory Directors and the
Laboratory Manager, investigates, writes, and implements technical
procedures and policies relative to histology processing, staining
and microtomy; and immunohistochemical procedures. Establishes
efficient and effective workflow for these areas. Identifies and
resolves technical issues in the Histology and Immunodiagnostic
Laboratories. Establishes and monitors Quality Control and Quality
Assurance programs to meet Joint Commission, CAP, state and federal
requirements. Establishes and maintains compliance with all
applicable health and safety policies (Joint Commission, CAP,
state, federal, and SHC). Assigns work schedules for
histotechnicians, laboratory technicians, and laboratory assistants
assigned to these laboratories. Collaborates with other supervisors
and staff in identifying, planning, and implementing performance
improvement projects. Functions as a Histotechnician as

appropriate work schedules for subordinate employees and plans
daily work assignments in order to maintain adequate staffing to
meet customer service needs.Develops and implement department
specific processes/procedures and quality control programs to
ensure reliability of testing procedures, proper function of
laboratory equipment and compliance to safety/health and
state/federal regulationsMonitors and evaluates machinery,
equipment, systems and supplies to ensure operational efficiency
and reliability of results.Performs all human resource management
responsibilities such conducting employee performance appraisal,
promotions, transfers, interviews, hiring and termination of
employees.Performs other duties as requestedPrepares technical
reports reflecting department process volume, testing results,
analysis, adverse trends, conclusions or recommendations for
management and other hospital personnel.Supervises laboratory
personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical
procedures. Plans laboratory work assignments, evaluates work
performed and provides direction decisions in handling procedural
and technical problems.Education QualificationsBachelor's degree in
a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or
universityExperience QualificationsFive (5) years of progressively
responsible and directly related work experienceRequired Knowledge,
Skills and AbilitiesAbility to analyze data, draw conclusions and
interpret resultsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally
and in writingAbility to develop financial budgets and manage
expensesAbility to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set
