Description:Plans, designs, and controls the progress of complex
project work within the technical department to meet member/client
objectives; prepares and presents research reports. Significant
customer interface component with ability to lead research
programs. Manages medium level projects without direct people

provides guidance to junior staff--- Influences project teams in
the engineering aspects of the technical work.--- Coordinates and
facilitates technical engineering related communications with the

presentations. Acts as technical specialist for projects or project
tasks.--- Continuing to lead national and international technical
networks with manufacturers, consultants, academia, and research

Information:The Position: -Experienced technical resource to the
grid operations, planning and bulk system variable generation
integration and system studies groups with excellent research and
analytical skills, as well as communication and interpersonal
skills, and capable of working independently without direct
supervision. -The position will also have responsibility of
development of research plans and proposals, managing research
projects, and communicating research results to EPRI members and
external industry. The position does not involve people management
responsibilities; however, the position requires working closely
and guiding junior staff under the direction of program manager and
senior management.Performs advanced engineering/scientific analysis
independently and has strong influence on the research outcome.
Well established creativity and ingenuity in providing technical
solutions. Takes lead in developing research plans for EPRI
projects as well as proposals for external entities. Works directly
with EPRI staff and high interaction with members and industry.Job
Functions: -This position will provide technical expertise and
analytical services for existing and new transmission and grid
operation simulation and modeling studies and research projects,
including power system dynamic model development, model validation,
and simulation, variable generation integration, risk-based system
planning methods and tools, advanced power flow and contingency
analysis methods, synchrophasor-based system assessment
applications, and other operational system assessment functions.
This position will take direction from program manager and other
senior staff to conduct and mange grid operation and planning
R&D project tasks. ---- - - -Lead strategic research plan
development including specific project ideas and plans to close
known research gaps. ---- - - -Support Program Manager and other
senior leadership in putting competitive bids and proposals--- - -
-Manage research projects to desired conclusions. ---- - -
-Represent the company to outside organizations and maintain
customer relations, including engagement in R&D program
activities with funders. ---- - - -Publish and present technical
papers in areas of expertise. ---- - - -Manage multiple
projects.--- - - -Conducts as well as guide other staff members on
technical searches and analyzes information in support of the
project team.--- - - -Provides technical advice and counsel to
other professionals within EPRI.--- - - -Assists Project/Program
managers in assessing customer needs, formulating technical
approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications/papers, and
making presentations.--- - - -Review progress and evaluate results.
Advice program manager to make necessary changes in methods,
design, or equipment where necessary.--- - - -Shows leadership in
determining technical objectives of assignment.The Ideal
Candidate:This position prefers at least a MS in Electrical
Engineering with an emphasis on power systems. This position
requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. The
candidate should have 15 or more years of experience conducting
power systems analytical studies and research with an emphasis on
the power system modeling and simulation for the analysis of
stability and reliability. The candidate's experience should
include general system planning analysis including power flow and
stability analysis, expertise with power system modeling of
transmission, generation and load, and expertise with using power
flow and transient stability software tools. Some of the tools that
will be required for this job include DIgSILENT PowerFactory,
Siemens PTI PSS/E, PowerWorld, DSATools,GE PSLF, PSCAD, EMTP-RV,
and Matlab-Simulink. Proficiency in Python is strongly
preferred.Education Level and Years of Experience:--- - -
-Bachelor's Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
