What is the primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?As part of this organization, you will be driving multiple global projects, customer initiatives & programs across the organization and collaborate with x-VMware stake holders. As the Technical Project Manager you will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle including any software development, automation & qualification activities to ensure successful delivery.You will build comprehensive execution plans and the mechanisms that allow to understand progress against plan towards its near and long term goals and illuminate paths to get there. Youll enable the program to connect those goals to the overall Business Unit and VMware Objectives, maintaining alignment within the overall roadmap. Managing risks and cross-functional dependencies, build reports and communicate status throughout and externally to the business unit.This specific TPM position is to manage and executes the entire Federal Certifications and Compliance requirements for NSBU such as Common Criteria (PP, cPP, and EAL4+), FIPS 140, CSfC, STIG, FedRAMP, and other technical security certifications and commercial compliances. By aligning internal resources and personnel, tracking new technical requirements, interacting with 3rd party testing facilities and agencies, the Program Manager manages the entire lifecycle of the projects and ensures project delivery and success. You will also interact internally with Sales, Marketing, engineers, product managers to provide guidance and explanation of regulatory certifications and processes, and report project/program statuses and milestones to respective stakeholders and executive leadership.Ideal candidates come from the software product development, testing or technical program management background with xxxxxx a proven track record for delivering high quality, well-architected products and services.Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?
    • Manage large scale programs and projects including scoping, gap analysis, requirements gathering and analysis, development of detailed project plans, functional test case development, identification of risks and mediation plans.
    • Engage with government and regulatory agencies to translate regulatory requirements, submit and track inquiries, and understand and manage changes in certification process and requirements.
    • Map product and customer requirements across all certification requirements to ascertain best strategies and most efficient path forward.
    • Exercise diplomatic stewardship with standards bodies and regulatory groups to ensure proposed requirements do not adversely impact future product or certifications plans.
    • Scope the projects, manage contracts/SOW, interacting with 3rd party testing facilities and organizations to ensure project success.
    • Track detailed project plans, schedules, dependencies and critical paths to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
    • Authorize, edit, review and reply on comments for product and certification technical documents (ST, ADV, ALC, AGD, ATE, EAR, SP, VE, FSM, etc.,) with in-dept understanding of the security posture of the products.
    • Understand entropy documents for FIPS 140 and CC certifications; guiding product teams and help implement entropy subsystem that meets FIPS 140 and CC (NIAP and EAL) requirements.
    • Set up test beds and facilitate writing and execution of test cases for CC and FIPS, perform ACVP and functional tests for FIPS, and development scripts to automate testing.
    • Effectively collaborate and influence project stake-holders towards our stated objectives.
    • Clearly communicate with customers and upper management any risk areas; come up with risk mitigation plans.
    • Generate metrics & analytics where applicable to show case data in an objective way.
    • Maintain current knowledge of the VMware product line.
    • Adhere to VMware processes during the whole project execution
    • Build and maintain confidence of colleagues and customers.
    • Be organized and bring clarity where there is uncertainty, managing risks and continuously deliver value. Help ensure engineering teams have the direction needed to successfully complete the project.

      • Technical Program Management experience across complex programs in which several product teams are delivering product features and managing dependencies with other programs and products within a large portfolio.

At the same time, youre working towards the long-term goal of building a sustainable software development and release system that will scale for years to come.
      • You are capable of managing a program around a nascent SaaS platform solution with early customer adoption as it evolves and scales towards an established, mature product in the market.
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.The technical experience in your background which may help your success in this new role include:
        • MS/BS in CS/IS or equivalent
        • Subject matter expert by maintaining in depth certification expertise
        • Broad security knowledge of various other security and compliance specifications PCI, CIS, DISA, CJIS, FERPA, HIPAA, COBIT, ISO 270XX, SOX, FedRAMP, NIST 800-53 & 800-90 is preferred.
        • Comfortable working in NDA environments with high levels of confidential information.
        • Deep operational knowledge of Windows, Linux, virtualization platforms, and VMware product line.
        • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms, modes, key sizes, protocols (TLS, SSH, IPSec, etc.), NIST and NIAP standards, RNGs, entropy, and security requirements of US and international standards.
        • PMP or equivalent project management certification is desirable
        • Minimum of 10+ years of Software product development, technical program management or testing background with a proven track record for delivering high quality, well-architected products and services
        • Being able to do basic scripting to query metrics and showcase analytics, and familiarity with tools such as Tableau is desirable.
        • Must be able to work with technical teams to understand and converse on high-level technical details.
        • Excellent verbal & written communication skills and executive presence along with a passion for customer success with an absolute focus on quality and operational efficiency
        • Familiarity and exposure to fundamental concepts and basics of SaaS, Public Clouds, Networking and SDN are desired, but not necessary.What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

          • You will be reporting to the Sr. Director of Strategy, Planning and Operation, who has been at VMware for 7 years. She will work with you to set strategy, provide guidance, and remove impediments. She will expect you to be self-driven, creative, and energized to drive your projects. You are also expected to operate with a high degree of end-2-end ownership - the ability to determine what needs to be done and making it happen.
