Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. The Senior Construction Engineer will be responsible for developing engineering requirements and solutions in a hospital environment. Your role will be providing constructability review of designs, verifies on-site conditions, provides advice and support to the construction subcontractor selection process , and help in overseeing new construction or renovation projects of the Department of Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care. T h is is contingent on the award of the contract. Key responsibilities: + Responsible for contributing to all phases of capital project planning and delivery from concept, specification, design, analysis, construction, commissioning, and activation + Assist project team in the development of projects and the performance of constructability reviews + Conduct site, facility, and/or infrastructure assessments at posts, interviewing post personnel, interview local engineering and construction companies to gather local cost data and construction methodologies + Conduct surveys, collect and analyze information in support of planning the construction phase of work and assist with the development of construction management methodologies + Assist with construction management of projects as needed, analyze the effectiveness of construction management processes and personnel + Recommend organizational resources required for the construction phase + Gather performance data, provide input on variances, assist with change control processes and documentation + Assist with the documentation of lessons learned, development of process improvement recommendations + Inspecting the site to ensure that the building which will be taken place can be accommodated by that area + Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications to be successful in the role: + Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited Engineering school + Professional registration is preferred but not required + M inimum of five (5) years specialized experience in a similar discipline + Hospital/healthcare experience, essential + Experience d in preparing correspondence, written reports, and maintaining official project records + Experience d in conducting meetings, and briefing clients and management personnel + Proven experience in planning and development construction projects, the performance of constructability reviews, coordination with the design team, review of Request for Information (RFI) + Experience in construction management of subcontractors in secure environments + Ab le to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications + Ab le to accurately calculate construction costs for changes, price the value of needed work, and negotiate equitable adjustments + Ab le to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the area of expertise + Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including specifically, a background that indicates familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements on construction projects + Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits) Planate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
