As Director of Engineering at Venafi, you will be part of an extremely motivated, dedicated, and experienced team that protects many of the largest organizations in the world. With your excellent listening skills and your example of confidence without arrogance, you will bring trust to team members and customers alike. Your constant pursuit of improvement, and principle-based actions, will be reflected in the deliveries your team provides to these influential customers.

As Venafi transitions its on-premises Machine Identity Management products to cloud-based SaaS offerings (aptly named Venafi-as-a-Service or VaaS for short), we are looking for an excellent Director of Engineering to lead and develop the teams that build the VaaS platform.

In this role you will:

  • Work with our stellar Product Management and Engineering teams to develop and deliver the VaaS platform.
  • Enable multiple engineering teams to innovate, design, implement and deliver efficiently and collaboratively with high quality.
  • Act as the Development Manager and People Manager to multiple product engineering teams.
  • Contribute to our continual improvement of process, product, people, and culture.
  • Display a passion for continuous learning, and for experimenting and applying cutting edge technology, software paradigms and engineering process improvements, while fostering this culture across the team.
  • Strive to elevate your team members above yourself by exemplifying the Team Before Self model of our culture.

The ideal Venafi Warrior will be armed with:

  • S (CS, CSE, or equivalent) and 10-14 years of experience and 4+ years in leading a multi-team product organization; or
  • S/Ph.D. (CS, CSE, or equivalent) and 8-12 years of experience and 4+ years in leading a multi-team product organization; or
  • 12-16 years of relevant experience and 4+ years in leading a multi-team product organization
  • Product development experience holding a variety of Technical and Management leadership roles with emphasis on the following:
    • Agile development with continuous integration, delivery and deployment of SaaS services (CI/CD)
    • Experience developing on Public-Cloud (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) while utilizing modern technologies
      (e.g. Kubernetes, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Solr, Redis, Cassandra, )
    • Microservices architectures/distributed systems (AWS experience a plus)
    • Programming languages such as Java, Golang, Python, C#
  • Collaboration with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives.
  • Experienced in making final decisions on administrative and/or operational matters, ensuring an operations' effective achievement of objectives.
  • Familiarity with developing corporate and/or organizational policies and the implementation of these policies.
  • Ability to work in a team-driven development environment. Coaching, guiding and enabling both managers and team members to work together in a highly collaborative way.
  • Experience in collaborating with team members as peers, by adding your voice and experience to that of the team.
  • Aptitude in providing general direction to, and review of, managers and team members in various functional areas, groups, and/or operations.
  • Proficiency in designing and leading the implementation of functional objectives to meet company goals, including the hiring and releasing of team members.
  • Ability to handle overall responsibility for planning, implementing a budget, and achieving goals.
  • Desire and experience to foster innovation through all levels of the organization.
  • A keen aptitude for making our customers successful by delivering high-quality, secure and performant software.
