We believe in product managers and product marketers working closely together -- and that the best person to communicate why a product is meaningful to consumers and developers is the same person that helped drive its creation. As a Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will lead Product Marketing for large company-wide priority projects, serve as the customer voice during product development, and create a launch story about your product. You'll apply your knowledge of the competitive landscape, customer behaviors and our company strengths to influence the product-development process and craft your GTM plan. In doing so, you'll work very closely with a wide range of teams from Product Management, Visual Design, Copywriting, Product Design, Engineering, CRM, Legal, Finance, Business Development, User Research, PR and Executive Leadership.

As a leader on our Product Marketing team, you will own the positioning, messaging, and branding of new product launches and feature releases. You will also gather and process customer feedback, and direct customer relations after launch. You will devise and deploy strategies that enable a seamless customer journey. You own projects end to end, collaborating with design, product, and engineering. You drive seller & buyer education across all touchpoints. You help shape the product experience and roadmaps so that people everywhere can successfully sell (and buy) on Mercari. You help to build a future where all useful things are used.

In this role, you will drive the strategy, roadmap, feature definition, product positioning and key messages for your products. You will work with a global cross-functional team to define Mercari features and services. You will partner with engineering, operations, finance and marketing communications, through the complete product development cycle from product concept to end of life.

You will also:

  • Launch products nationwide in conjunction with Brand, PR, and Growth teams
  • Craft and deploy compelling end-user messaging for the highest impact
  • Be the expert on the competitive landscape
  • Guide the larger project team to a successful launch
  • Influence product tradeoffs with cross-functional partners
  • Evaluate new technologies and user feedback to integrate key insights into future product development

What You'll Need:

You are creative and have a love for crafting stories. You are insights driven - highly analytical, curious and show empathy for the customer and their journey. You think strategically - translating customer and market insights into innovative and creative marketing campaigns. Your communication skills - both written and oral - are outstanding. You have a strong attention to detail and are committed to delivering excellence in all touchpoints. You maintain good judgement and agility in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, and you can manage multiple timelines, priorities, and teams with ease.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven track record crafting and delivering messaging, positioning and GTM Strategies
  • Proven experience building and managing high performing cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with the ability to develop creative solutions for challenging, undefined problems
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Flexible, resourceful, with a bias to action and willingness to do what is needed to deliver launches
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; with previous success in cross-functional collaboration and management by influence
  • Prior experience in a product role is a plus
  • Prior marketplace or ecommerce experience a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree, MBA preferred
  • 9+ years of experience in Product Marketing, Marketing, Product Management, or a related field with at least one entire product development cycle from concept to introduction
  • Experience with and ability to synthesize technologies into product communication for a broad audience
  • Passion for working with technology products and solving consumer needs
  • Demonstrated success in running multiple complex programs at the same time
