Ascendis Pharma is looking to hire an experienced Director, EMS
Scientific Training, to join our team. This is an exciting

The Director, EMS Scientific and Professional Training is a
leadership role within Endocrine Medical Sciences focusing on the
development of learning strategies to support all the professional
and scientific training needs of Medical Affairs and Clinical
Development. The Director is responsible for leading training needs
analysis and gap assessments to design a spiral training curriculum
and content for EMS.
This position requires advanced communication, leadership,
training development, and project management competencies. The
candidate must have a foundational understanding of drug
development, strategic thinking, learning program design and
execution. Provides operational support to cross-functional
Endocrine Medical Sciences teams and oversees the planning and
tactical execution of scientific training strategies within the
Endocrine Medical Sciences (EMS) department.
Develops training processes in collaboration with stakeholders
within EMS and across the company, codifies the processes in SOPs,
advocates for necessary resources (budget and headcount), and
supports development of plans (tactical, change management,
communication) to launch those training processes.
Furnish regular and ad hoc updates to the head of EMS, and to
other department leaders (for example, Sr VP EMS, VP Clinical
Development, and Medical Affairs, Legal and Compliance).
Ability to perform training needs analysis, which includes base
competency assessments to identify needs and address gaps to be
included the curriculum.
Participate in the design, development, and delivery of training
solutions on products and disease areas to support learners within
Working with individual functions to develop key performance
indicators for measurement before and after training.
Collaborate cross-functionally throughout EMS to build an
understanding of learning needs in the context of long and
near-term strategic goals.
Design effective course curriculum and workshops that meet the
needs of the EMS organization.
Identifies internal and external subject matter experts to
deliver effective live training as required.
Facilitates live training in a manner that supports adult
Responds to learner needs, delivering effective training by
managing and responding to the needs of the learner.
Responsible for gathering or developing professional skills
training content that supports the developmental needs of EMS,
ensuring external EMS personnel are competent in the areas of
product and disease knowledge, compliance, and presentation
Implements a variety of media and blended approaches including
coaching, classroom instruction, on-line learning, experiential
learning, and self-guided learning to develop effective EMS
Scientific and Professional Training materials.
Assesses learning progress and ensures performance gaps are
closed through the design of performance measurement solutions.
Plans leads, and conducts effective live training events by
implementing project management, change management, and learner
engagement best practices.
Ensures strategic training alignment within EMS through
collaboration within a matrix team and cross-functional colleagues
to ensure that training needs are met.
Develop spiral curriculum learning plans for all Ascendis Pharma
compounds across the entire projected lifecycle.
Leads the process for addressing ad hoc EMS Scientific and
Professional Training requests in addition to identifying annual

Eight or more years of relevant experience in healthcare EMS
Scientific and Professional Training, medical affairs, and/or drug
A science degree in life sciences (MD, PharmD, PhD, BSN or
equivalent) is required
Demonstrates advanced core competence in leadership and

Past responsibility with managing Scientific and Professional
Training operational budget including review of annual budget,
monthly projections, accruals, and variance analysis. Provides the

KOL engagement strategies, field medical insight reports, and
metrics (KPIs) reporting.
Developing and implementing new processes, SOPs and policies to

Implementing operations projects including Performance and
Assessment, development of Standard Operating Procedures,
Compliance updates and presentations as needed.
Demonstrated excellence in managing complex projects and
multi-tasking in a deadline-intensive, highly compliance-driven

Experience teaming with congress planning and activities around
external scientific presentations.
Has participated in medical review submissions and tracking of
created Scientific and Professional Training material.
Experience in managing vendors, negotiating, and scrutinizing
contracts, and managing and reconciling budgets
Contributes to preparation of SOWs and agreements with EMS
Scientific and Professional Training contractors.
