Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing engineering requirements and solutions in a hospital environment. As part of the role, you are expected to contribute to all phases of capital project planning and delivery from concept, specification, design analysis , construction, commissioning, and activation. T he place of performance is in the Department of Veterans Affairs , Palo Alto Health Care and is contingent on the award of the contract. Key responsibilities: Responsible for contributing to all phases of capital project planning and delivery from concept, specification, design, analysis, construction, commissioning, and activation R esponsible for professional reviews related to project management services required by the contrac t P erform other services during the construction phases that are not included in the contract vehicles associated with the project Provide weekly or monthly report in the form of accurate and detailed reports Maintain awareness of industry trends (such as related-technology, green design) and modifies practices Utilize computer-assisted design software and equipment to support project designs and plans when necessary Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications to be successful in the role: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Engineering school Professional registration is preferred but not required M inimum of five (5) years specialized experience in similar discipline Experience d in preparing correspondence, written reports, and maintaining official project records Experience d in conducting meetings, and briefing clients and management personnel Knowledge of construction practices and techniques, e.g., proper applications of construction materials and methods of installation in the Architect's or Engineer's area of expertise Ab le to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications Ab le to accurately calculate construction costs for changes, price the value of needed work, and negotiate equitable adjustments Ab le to inspect materials, workmanship, and construction and installation of various systems in the Architect's or Engineer's area of expertise Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry, including specifically, a background that indicates familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements on construction projects Must lawfully reside in the United States and be eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits) Planate Management Group is an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.
