Director of Data Quality & Governance - Opportunity for Working Remotely

This role is fully remote and can be done anywhere in US.

Enterprise Information Governance Team Leadership: Leading a lean team of Information Governance professionals to provide thought leadership, information governance vision implementation and policy adoption, and technology implementation. This leader will collaborate with peers and key stakeholders driving standardization and best practices for continuous data quality improvement and governance of VMwares enterprise data.
Direct authority over Information Governance team members and influential authority over team members in the broader MDM and Enterprise Data & Analytics (EDA) organization. Ensure team members are successful in completing deliverables with high-quality and according to agreed timelines. Provide expertise and thought leadership to jointly solve problems and provide solutions across all MDM and Information Governance domains and across the broader EDA functions Lead the Information Governance community to define and enforce policies, standards, and processes. Communicate, influence and persuade at all levels of the organization from EVPs to Analysts and drive Governance initiatives, standards, and practices Drive stakeholder engagement thought leadership and Information Governance roadmap planning & execution Collaborate with global team members in EDA and IT to drive and deliver Governance team deliverables and capabilities as well as to drive continuous improvement Define methods to measure and monitor policy adherence and data quality related to governance standards Coordinate with business partners to maintain business alignment (data as an enabler). Manage end-to-end data management in alignment and support of Enterprise Data & Analytics vision including the definition of minimum data standards and requirements, a horizontal data management capability, a simplified data environment and control & oversight of data management enterprise-wide. Define data management strategy and maturity model. Develop phased implementation plan to mature the state of data management at VMware Publish Enterprise Data Management Policy and Standards to ensure the company has one source of truth for minimum data management standards and requirements. Lead data management maturity assessment against industry to establish baseline. Define milestones, metrics and reporting to measure progress in maturing data management for key stakeholders and senior/executive leaders. Establish capabilities across metadata, data quality, authoritative sourcing and master data management. Implement tools and technologies to support data governance and quality capabilities (i.e., Axon, EDC, IDQ), leveraging automation where possible. Drive enterprise-wide adoption of data management capabilities to ensure data is managed effectively as a valuable asset to inform decision-making, monitor risk and increase efficiency and effectiveness.
Data Governance:
Measure and report data governance program effectiveness Define and implement clear data domain roles and responsibilities to drive data management ownership and accountability Drive enterprise data remediation activities centrally to drive prioritization and validation of issue management remediation
Define metadata standards based on business needs Provide metadata tooling to manage and govern business, operational and technical metadata Analyze metadata to gain insights (e.g., opportunities for data environment simplification) Optimize control environment, business processes and technologies based on analysis Perform metadata and control testing, where applicable
Data Quality:
Define common data quality metrics and thresholds (minimum standards) Develop business data quality rules Implement data quality controls and report on data quality Address data quality gaps in coverage and depth Integrate data quality testing and monitoring into BAU processes
Authoritative Sourcing:
Perform source system and data mapping analysis Create and implement data provisioning strategy; identify and appoint authoritative data sources, establish data sharing requirements and provisions, develop provisioning point registration, classification and selection process Conduct ongoing monitoring of adoption

Engagement: Supporting department-specific stakeholders (Audit, Sales, Marketing, Finance, R&D) as a team lead for engagement regarding all the offerings but also act as the primary PoC for Audit engagement with Enterprise Data & Analytics. functions (e.g. Master Data, BI, Analytics, Information Governance); informally (matrix leadership) leading an account team of experts from each of the EDA functional areas who will work together to provide thought leadership and value-added services to the assigned stakeholder group(s) as well as prioritization of demand, and managing stakeholder expectations
First line of support to Business Stakeholders for the Corporate and BU groups Handling of ad-hoc requests Trusted advisor and Centralized point of contact for Stakeholders needs for EDA services (Data, BI, Analytics) Participate in prioritization routines/advocate for their stakeholders Accountable for satisfaction of stakeholders Responsible for translating broad business requirements into instructions for the CoE teams to create output Responsible for communicating progress/issues related to larger projects, working with CoE teams to provide SLAs and other service dimensions back to the business Responsible for ensuring all direct requests flow into/are captured by the CoEs prioritization and intake routines Responsible for overseeing the EDA CoE resources in each function assigned to a work effort; works closely with the functional leaders in MDM/Governance, BI, and Analytics to ensure resources are properly assigned to work efforts and are provided appropriate leadership support Works closely with Global EDA leadership team to facilitate employee relations and support
Required Skills:
12+ years of progressively responsible experience leading reporting and analytics solutions; Proven track record of leading and building teams. Ability to get into the details while appropriately setting and communicating broader strategy Demonstrated ability to tell a story through data and communicate effectively with senior leadership and other key stakeholders; mastery of advanced visualization and analytical techniques with an ability to translate findings for a general business audience. Experience managing a global distributed team to include FTEs and vendor Excellent interpersonal, collaboration skills, and communication skills Experience with diverse analytics methodologies and approaches; expert ability to connect data/metrics to business metrics/results Math modeling and analytical techniques in predictive techniques, classification techniques and segmentation highly desirable. Data visualization skills using tableau, or equivalent. Working experience designing and implementing AI and ML solutions to solve complex business challenges desired Be a "trusted advisor" in the data governance, risk and compliance domain focused on implementing analytics and reporting with stakeholders across strategy, support, compliance and operations functions Ability and motivation to work efficiently and productively in a multi-task environment on a daily basis, independently and with minimal supervision. Ability to influence and persuade without formal authority
