**The Business**

Together our $2 billion Cloud Management Business Unit (CMBU) is leading the transition to software defined data centers (SDDC) across public, hybrid and private clouds. As the Product Leader you will help lead the way and vision in the rapidly transforming Infrastructure and Application Operations space, defining the management and operations of SDDC and Apps and the way enterprises run and manage their cloud infrastructure. **The Role**

The VP, Product Leader for the Cloud Operations business will report to the SVP & GM of the Cloud Management Business Unit and will lead an established team of 285+ engineers and product managers. You will be responsible for providing the vision and leadership to both engineering and product management teams and executing a strategy to advance our market leading cloud operations position in the market.

This executive will be a thought leader in driving and defining the vision for the business including building and driving new product capabilities to include integrations with VMware Cloud, Public Cloud, vRealize Cloud Management platform and the SDDC stack.

You will establish a culture of excellence in execution. You will define realistic targets and achievements, establish a high level of team participation and interaction, serve as an inspiring leader, drive a culture of innovating on behalf of customers, ensure that quality is a high priority at every stage, and deliver continuous value to our customers.

**Primary need, challenges and responsibilities** :

+ Oversee engineering and product management to execute a product strategy that maintains and advances our market leadership position in multi-cloud management.

+ Partner with the field sales organization in order to continue to grow and scale the business.

+ Deliver on product roadmaps on-time and with high quality as well increase speed of product innovation that will drive the next phase of growth for VMware and CMBU via next generation products.

+ Continue to create and evangelize a transformative vision for VMware's Cloud Operations.

+ Build strong, productive, collaborative partnerships with other business units here at VMware.

+ Make organizational and process changes to eliminate any friction impairing us from the continuous delivery of value for our customers and maximize engineering productivity.

+ Maintain strong partnership with the marketing organization to drive demand generation pipeline.

+ Develop, lead, and inspire the team. Be a magnet for engineering and product management talent and accelerate hiring. Solidify succession plans and enhance management capabilities to meet strategic and operating objectives.

+ Be a respected leader in the company. Establish a strong collaborative culture with peers and other functions within VMware. Promote a culture of success, pride, performance, discipline, and creativity. Be an effective spokesperson and champion for the Cloud Operations product and engineering teams.

+ Work closely and engage with VMware executives and direct reports to establish an environment that is motivating and entrepreneurial in nature.

**Candidate Profile and Characteristics:**

+ Progressively broadening engineering and product leadership experience from a company building enterprise grade software products and SaaS services delivering with high quality and operational readiness across a suite of products.

+ Experience ideally working in large public cloud and/or SaaS software companies.

+ Has inherent knowledge of development processes and best practices to manage multiple projects consistently on time and on budget.

+ Ability to dive deep into technical details as and when necessary, garnering the respect of the engineering and product teams assisting in the correct technical choices if appropriate.

+ Consistent track record of success leading development and/or product teams in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment where management of complex product requirements is a critical driver of success.

+ Specific experience transforming, organizing and/or reorganizing an engineering function for growth into highly competitive new markets and/or has been through an on-prem to SaaS transformation allowing for strategic opportunities requiring short product life cycles and flexible and adaptable product architectures.

+ Validated leadership experience setting the vision and building, leading, and motivating engineering and product teams. Trained in software development organization and leadership from a company well known and widely respected for world-class software development processes and practices.

+ Demonstrates a "high organizational IQ".

+ Ideally has successfully led technical teams of at least 200+.

+ Stays abreast of key competitor actions and their implications or threats to the business.

+ Experienced managing geographically distributed teams.

+ Conveys an understanding of the organization's global market position, opportunities, capabilities, and competitive threats.

+ Identifies and anticipates customer requirements, expectations, and needs.
