Practice Group Marketing Specialist (Litigation)
Cooley is seeking a Practice Group Marketing Specialist
(Litigation) to join the Marketing team.
Under the supervision of litigation marketing management, the
Practice Group Marketing Specialist will work closely with the
firm's litigation marketing team, attorneys and other marketing
team members to support business development and marketing
activities for certain practice groups and geographical markets.
The primary goal is to drive revenue through new business
opportunities and client expansion programs, including pitches and
proposals, events and sponsorships, sales pipeline management, key
client initiatives, and business development coaching and training.
This position is responsible for working with attorneys in the
litigation department to respond to marketing and business
development requests in a manner consistent with the firm's overall
* In conjunction with the litigation marketing management, the
litigation marketing team, firm attorneys and other marketing team
members, assist with supporting marketing and business development
initiatives for litigation practice group(s). * Assist with
identifying practice group targets/prospects and support programs,
events, sponsorships, etc., to drive revenue. * Coordinate and
leverage activities with the business development efforts of
attorneys and marketing managers across the firm.
* Assist with business development/sales support for attorneys
in litigation practice groups. * Work with the litigation marketing
team to implement policies and procedures for business development
initiatives, including proposal preparation, client presentations,
sales pipeline management and market development. * Support
RFPs/RFIs and other pitches and proposals. * Manage data and
content for litigation marketing team. * Help identify new business
opportunities and targets, as well as support trend-related
projects concerning the marketplace. Support key target
initiatives. Conduct business research and relationship searches.
Collect key target account data. * Support targeting initiatives
consistent with overall firm strategy. * Collect sales pipeline
information. Help support accurate reporting and forecasting
systems for the tracking of business development.
Programs and Visibility Initiatives
* Work with other marketing staff to execute hosted events,
client receptions and alumni programs. * Assist with managing
business sponsorships and activities tied to industry and business
organizations in which the litigation department active. * Support
networking, speaking, media opportunities for litigation attorneys
that support PG business plans.
* Develop and maintain marketing materials and collateral
(descriptions, engagement lists, client lists, awards, etc.). *
Steer data using the appropriate firm technologies (Web,
Salesforce, Portal, Intranet, etc.). * Help promote exposure to
practice group and individual attorneys internally and
* Work cooperatively with staff and managers at the local office
to advance both marketing and general administrative goals and
projects. * Role model the use of Salesforce in managing the sales
pipeline and for practice group business development.
Skills & Experience:
* 2+ years' experience in a marketing/business development
position. * Project management experience and direct experience in
creating and monitoring sales and business plans, goal tracking and
sales pipeline management. * Ability to work overtime, and/or to
travel to other offices and off site, as needed. * After
orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Word,
Outlook, DTE, Adobe Acrobat, FileSurf and other Firm applications.
* Proficient in the use of a CRM tool.
* College degree preferred with emphasis in English, Journalism,
Communications, Marketing, Business, or related-field a plus. *
Prior legal experience is strongly preferred. * Depth of
understanding of the litigation practice is strongly preferred. *
Experience with litigation research tools and databases like PACER,
Monitor Suite, Lex Machina, and Docket Navigator is strongly
