This Program Manager position sits within the CDTO Program
Management Office. This role will give put you an opportunity to
drive the SaaS transformation for VMware by managing track that is
responsible for multiple Product BUs in VMWare migrating to a new
Subscription and Commerce Platform being built by our team. You
will engage with diverse set of stakeholders from Business
Operations, Product BUs, IT teams and others - all engaged in a
unified goal of scaling VMware's SaaS business.
Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the
first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?
As a Program Manager you'd be responsible for putting together
and executing on a plan to facilitate different Product BUs within
VMware to migrate onto the new SaaS and Subscription Commerce
platform being built, which includes fit-gap assessment of platform
capabilities required by the BUs, as well as data migration needs
moving from legacy platforms to the new platform.
For Product BUs which have already committed to a plan, you'd be
tracking the detailed execution of that plan, calling out the
progress being made by the program team, risks that need to be
highlighted and key deliverables/milestones coming up. The first
release of the platform will be in Q3-2021 for which the detailed
plan of BU onboarding has to be managed.
The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments,
requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular
Time will be spent in engaging with the Product BUs in assessing
their requirements to onboard, getting commitment from the BUs to a
plan and then tracking the plan to execution.
The SaaS transformation program in progress will be the main
vehicle, building out key SaaS capabilities required by the BU to
successfully transition to this new platform and leverage the
features being built.
You will work with the Product Management team responsible for
building SaaS Commerce features and the Product BU teams wanting to
onboard to the new platform. The objective will be to facilitate
the BUs in coming up with detailed onboarding plans, which you
would then manage.
There would be at least 6-8 Product BUs that would onboard to
the new platform, for which their individual plans would be
consolidated and rationalized to create a roadmap of BU
This would require regular engagement with the implementation
team and other internal stakeholders, in tracking upcoming
activities, risk tracking and escalations, executive briefings on
the progress, communication, change management and other related
The detailed feature requirements and user stories will be
managed in JIRA and the tracking of the activities will be done
using Confluence primarily.

The hiring manager for this role is a Director in the CDTO PMO.
His expertise is managing complex transformational programs for the
company. His management style is to encourage each team member to
apply his/her expertise in every situation, bringing out the most
optimum result. He is available to coach and support his team
regularly, acknowledging small and big wins.
There are 4 core Program Managers from our team, working on this
transformation program and you would be the fifth team member when
you join. There are more Program Managers from other teams as well,
outside of CDTO that have a critical role to play on this program,
which gives an indication of the size and importance
