The VP, WW Networking and Security Solutions Engineering leader will manage, develop, and lead an organization of Pre-Sales Engineers and Consulting Architects. The VP will partner with the WW Sales leader and share responsibility for the Networking & Security business that is expected to be well over $1.5B in 2021 and will have direct responsibility for over 300 team members. The leader is expected to grow their business through the development of internal business partnerships with the field Sales Organization, VMware Business Units and our Partner organization.

Required Background and Experience:

VMware is seeking a seasoned leader with a command of sales, pre-sales and/or consulting services in the networking and security domain. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of managing sizeable, global, high-performance teams, who have experience partnering with direct and partner sales to grow networking and security revenue. The candidate will have been a leader of a global organization whose members routinely exerted significant influence on the technical sale of business-driven technology solutions to clients, resulting in revenue. In addition the candidate will have excellent strategic planning and strategy deployment skills and must possess both a broad level of technology understanding, and substantial operational and financial acumen.

The individual filling this position has most likely spent most of his/her career in technology sales, consulting services or pre-sales with progression into sales, consulting services and or pre-sales management and has demonstrated the ability to manage global team execution during sale activities, in addition the ability to personally influence the sale of complex, large-scale business driven technology solutions to senior client executives.

Priority skills for this position:

  • Experience working in a growth environment and an appreciation of how the dynamics of growth affect corporate culture and in-place processes and systems.
  • Proven ability to work closely with field sales and partner organizations involving joint client presentations and opportunity pursuits.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, lead and motivate a global team of highly experienced consultants and pre-sales engineers.
  • Manage offerings and intellectual property generated by the team for reuse and distribution to both clients and internal groups.
  • Organizational management including business management, personnel management and customer satisfaction
  • Recruit, manage, mentor, and professionally develop a team of best in class solution focuses pre-sales engineers and consultants.
  • Thought leadership on how to continually evolve sales, grow market adoption and drive a services led sales culture
  • Review customer deliverables prior to delivery, if necessary for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Manage a large diverse team of senior leaders, first line managers and individual contributors across the globe.

In addition, manage in a matrix model supporting sales, corporate product teams, support organizations, professional services and enterprise partner teams.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience managing or leading a successful presales and services organization preferably in the network and security solutions on a global basis.
  • Relevant IT or industry experience in customer-facing positions preferably within the Enterprise, cloud services software space, and Cloud Service Providers.
  • Strong ability to hire, develop, motivate and retain geographically dispersed deep technical teams, ensuring quality "bench strength", and leading cloud thought leadership within organization.
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally with executives, teams, customers and partner, including CXO-level personnel; aligns stakeholder interests and navigates customer organizations to ensure successful project delivery and acceptance.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing principles, features, and business & IT value propositions for Enterprise customers and Service Providers as well as geographic nuances of selling in multiple geographies.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, and motivational skills with cultural diversity engagement awareness.

Location: US with access to a major airport and ability to travel including internationally.
