What You'll Get to Do:

You will work in a small team of Hardware, Firmware, and Algorithms Engineers with Product Managers and Designers to define, prototype and integrate sensing technologies to support our consumer hardware roadmap. The Sensor Hardware Engineer owns the sensing technology through the full hardware product development cycle from concept to mass production. Additionally, you'll be working with Firmware and Algorithms teams to develop advanced algorithms to ensure module performance meets the user experience requirements. You need to be comfortable with ambiguity and self-driven with limited direction. If you love working directly on consumer facing products and shipping what you build, we'd love to meet you.

  • Work with a cross disciplinary team for feature definition and requirements for the sensor modules
  • Build prototypes, test set ups and characterize results: including test board development, sensor readout driver development and characterization report generation
  • Propose signal processing and algorithm modules to deliver on user-facing features
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive, multi-functional sensor system models to inform design decisions
  • Work closely with the mechanical and electrical engineering team for optimizing system design and balancing design trade-offs
  • Create and execute plans to bring-up, debug, and validate designs to achieve functional and performance goals
  • Propose and negotiate cross-functional requirements, and accordingly write engineering requirement specifications (ERS) to guarantee module performance
  • Business travel to support product development in a dynamic debugging and analysis environment
  • Examine test item distributions, set manufacturing limits and conduct failure analysis of units built at contract manufacturing sites

What You'll Bring:

Education & Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in the consumer electronics sector shipping sensor modules
  • MS degree in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with various sensing technologies, from working principle to commercially available solutions
  • Experience with system prototyping that covers component selection, schematic design, PCB layout guidance, PCB bring up and Firmware development
  • Understanding of sensor signal processing and algorithm development
  • Experience with the sensor module manufacturing process
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar simulation and modeling / scripting tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Familiarity with mechanical/electrical design principles, FEA, and advanced materials
  • Strong EE fundamentals and experience with analog/mixed signal design
  • Experience certifying sensing solutions with regulatory bodies such as UL, FCC, etc.
  • Experience working with a variety of sensing technologies. Namely, Opto-electronic, Electrochemical, Piezoelectric, Microwave/Radar, MEMs and Ultrasound based technology
  • Ability to lead in a cross-functional engineering environment and mentor junior engineers

What We Offer:

  • Competitive compensation package
  • Comprehensive benefits
  • 401K
  • Pet Insurance
  • Paid Parental Care Leave
  • Employee Referral Program
  • Educational Assistance
  • Flexible Work Program
