Ideal Candidate
This classification is eligible to participate in the East Palo Alto Police Officer Association (P.O.A.) bargaining unit. Under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant, Police Officers perform law enforcement and crime prevention work by utilizing community policing and problem-oriented strategies including controlling traffic flow; enforcing state and local regulations; performing investigative work; participating in, and providing support and assistance to special departmental crime prevention and enforcement programs.
Police Academy Graduate - Completion of a P.O.S.T. certified academy within the last 36 months (proof must be included with your application; if currently enrolled in the academy, please specify on application and include graduation date).
Police Officer Academy Graduate/Basic POA
Hourly Rate: $39.32 - $51.94

  • CALPERS Retirement 3% @ 55 or PEPRA New Members Police 2.7% @ 57
  • Tuition Reimbursement
  • $1,200/ year Uniform Allowance
  • 80 - 200 Hours Vacation/year (based on City of East Palo Alto years of service)
