Job Description:

ImpriMed is looking for a Data Scientist to build predictive models that will help oncologists fight cancer
AI-driven Personalized Medicine for Cancer CareDo you want to be part of an innovative precision oncology company that is improving the treatment of cancer using high-throughput biology and artificial intelligence (AI)? ImpriMed is a dynamic startup launched by two Stanford engineering PhDs to solve a major challenge faced by cancer care providers: the complexity of cancer cell evolution makes it difficult to find the most effective drug treatments for individual cancer patients. ImpriMed's precision oncology platform provides a solution to this problem by comprehensively profiling tumor cells and using AI to predict real-world clinical outcomes. Oncologists across the US are currently using our personalized outcome predictions to identify the most effective anticancer drugs for individual patients. ImpriMed's first commercial AI-based prediction service was launched in the veterinary oncology space in 2021 and we are currently moving into human cancers. We are seeking a highly motivated, full-time Data Scientist who will be based in our Palo Alto headquarters and have options for remote work.
What you'll do:

  • Use machine learning (ML) to develop clinical outcome predictors that will improve the treatment of cancer in animal and human patients -
  • Wrangle, explore, and interpret complex clinical datasets
  • Conduct reproducible ML experimentation; rigorously test and productionize new ML models
  • Update existing predictive models with new training data, more powerful ML approaches, and additional features such as new genomic and transcriptomic biomarkers
  • Conduct statistical analyses to measure AI model performance in silico and in the clinic
  • Work with a database of millions of electronic health records to develop AI products for the human market
  • Collaborate with the Bioscience team to analyze lab data and experimental results
  • Review ML/AI literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new algorithms and apply learnings to product development
  • Participate in the preparation of written documents such as journal papers, procedures, presentations, and proposals
  • Regularly present your work to a broad audience at company meetings -

    What you bring:
    • Post-graduate degree in a quantitative discipline involving machine learning or work equivalent
    • Excellent Python scripting and coding skills; experience with scikit-learn and one or more deep learning library
    • Demonstrated ability to quickly master new open-source Python libraries
    • Great data visualization and communication skills
    • Passion for improving cancer treatment and eagerness to learn about clinical oncology
      Great to have:
      • Experience building ML models for imbalanced clinical datasets
      • Background in biomedicine, R, AWS cloud computing, diagnostic devices, bioinformatics, transfer learning, transformers, few-shot learning
