Joining the VMworld Event Technology team provides an opportunity to grow in whichever path matches your career interests- as a business analyst, as an event marketer, or both. You will be critical to the success of VMware's global events as you help build the attendee journey through event technology for both in-person and virtual events. You will have opportunities to configure registration sites, analytics reports, surveys, mobile apps, content catalogs, resource centers, and more, allowing you to truly understand the back-end logistics of a successful event. You will collaborate with event marketers, event operations leads, digital marketers, brand, IT, technology vendors, and data and analytics teams. You will become fully immersed in the exciting, fast-paced world of global events. Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing? You'll begin in a support role, as you learn the basics of VMware's event technology stack, including how to configure registration sites, analytics reports, surveys, mobile apps, content catalogs, resource centers, and more. Within the first 6-12 months, you'll be assigned a piece of a marquee event to lead (such as surveys for VMworld) and be able to manage event tech for a smaller event end-to-end. The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis? As a member of the event tech team, you will gather business requirements and bring the event technology to life by configuring modules within the event platform. Your project management and communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail, will be critical to success in the role to stay on target. Although tasks change event to event, here are some examples of assignments you may expect: Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to configure event modules in the event platform, such as registration, mobile apps, content catalogs, resource centers, and more Assist team members with updating registration profiles, attributes, rules, and more within the event platform Collect deliverables from stakeholders and vendors, set clear deadlines to meet project goals, and proactively follow up to remain on task Assist with quality assurance for conference modules Provide customer service support through the Event Tech Support email alias, responding in a timely fashion to troubleshoot login issues Create surveys according to business requirements and provide reporting Assist with project management for the team, creating process documents and organizational systems Provide assistance with other projects as required Limited travel required; estimated 3-4 times per year And as with all live event roles, it is important to do the best you can to prepare for the unexpected, but remain flexible to creatively re-adjust plans as needed. What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like? The hiring manager for this role is Amanda Johnson, Director of Event Technology who has been with VMware for eight years. The team includes two program managers and two business analysts. By embracing technology and open communication, the event technology team works together effectively despite being spread across the country. They would describe themselves as a supportive, collaborative team of problem solvers. Where is this role located?
